Post History
In June of 1946 together with the American Legion the officers club building at the air base was purchased for $1900.00. This building was 10,200 square ft.
Later the American Legion relocated and the VFW Post 4108 continued to serve as the Community Center for Public and Club Dances, Gatherings, Social and Business Meetings.
On Jan. 24, 1962 the Post 4108 burned to the ground leaving only one bowling ball in the smoldering rubble. This was an unimaginable loss for the Community and the Club members.
A building committee was formed to construct the New Veterans Memorial Building. The building committee for the project included Leo Peitier, Robert Campbell, Ed Urell, Gilbert Cousineau, Nicholas Rachor, Everett Reynolds, Arthur Horsell and Ed Barnett.
The Veterans Memorial Building was completed in 1964 and dedicated in 1965.The renovation cost was $68,000.00.
The Dedication of the new Veterans Memorial Building, located on Golf Club road, was given by Rev. James K. Egly with William Hatfield, a VFW National Council member presenting the dedicatory address. This ceremony also celebrated the 20th. Anniversary of Post 4108.
